Thank you for supporting the Belmont Minor Soccer Association.
As number one fans, you are your child’s biggest support and influence!
Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct
As a parent/guardian of a player with Belmont Minor Soccer, I will:
Represent with pride.
Remember that I represent my player, the team, the league, and my community, and conduct myself accordingly.
Promote respect and safety.
Support all efforts to eliminate verbal and physical abuse from the game of soccer by setting a positive example.
Treat others with dignity.
Treat coaches/parents/officials/players the same way I would want myself and my child to be treated. I will demonstrate respect, dignity, and sportsmanship at all times.
Keep the game positive.
Make soccer participation a positive experience. I will smile, encourage enjoyment, and emphasize effort and participation over results.
Respect coaches and officials.
Remember that coaches are volunteers who give their time to support my child. If I have concerns, I will address them privately at an appropriate time and never in front of the team. I will respect officials and their role in the game.
Commit to the team.
Ensure my child arrives on time for practices and games whenever possible, properly equipped with uniform, shin guards, soccer shoes, and water bottle.
Notify coaches in advance if my child will miss an event.
Ensure my child is prepared with proper nutrition and hydration before, during, and after games.
Use sport as an opportunity to teach responsibility, encouraging my child to pack their own equipment.
Be my child’s cheerleader.
Allow the coach to coach, the referee to officiate, and my child to play.
Encourage good sportsmanship through positive applause.
Build confidence by highlighting positives from each game or practice.
Support my child unconditionally and focus on their strengths and effort.
Model positivity.
Refrain from criticizing my child or any other child on the field.
Respect the referee.
Remember that referees strive to officiate fairly and to the best of their ability.
I will not openly question their judgment and never their integrity.
I will accept calls and move on.
Be gracious in all outcomes.
Show respect for players, coaches, referees, and opponents.
Be gracious in victory and defeat, and encourage my child to do the same.
Remember the big picture.
Understand that games have winners and losers.
Teach my child to handle both outcomes with grace and to value doing their best as much as winning.
Belmont Minor Soccer Association (“BMSA”) is committed to providing a caring, friendly, and safe environment for all players.
Bullying of any kind is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
BMSA is an open association. Anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to report it to a member of the Association. We are committed to teaching players to treat one another with respect, kindness, and sportsmanship.
If bullying does occur:
All incidents will be addressed promptly and effectively.
The player involved will be removed from team activities until the appropriate process outlined in the BMSA Anti-Bullying Policy has been completed.
Further action will be taken as required to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
While disagreements with a referee’s call may occasionally occur, it is important to remember that the appropriate avenue for concerns is through the Division Convener or the President of BMSA — not during the game.
Verbal abuse of game officials will not be tolerated.
Under league rules, coaches, players, or parents may be removed from the field at the referee’s discretion if verbal abuse occurs.
Failure to follow the direction of a game official may result in further disciplinary action from BMSA.
BMSA expects all participants and spectators to demonstrate respect, integrity, and good sportsmanship at all times.
